Steve Harvey is a freelance writer and journalist for the Musical Instrument industry specialising in acoustic guitars. He was involved in the launch of Acoustic magazine and was the magazine’s Editor for the first two years of publication before leaving to concentrate on freelance work. His CV also includes a two year tenure as Managing Editor for Bass Guitar Magazine.
Steve is currently writing for a number of guitar magazines including the UK’s number one selling title Guitarist. His published work includes new instrument reviews, artist interviews, buying guides and bespoke features. Artists interviewed and featured include David Gray, Jack Johnson, Neil Finn and Tommy Emmanuel.
Steve’s flexibility allows him to work to emergency as well as scheduled deadlines. All copy is provided on time, proofed and formatted in accordance with stated criteria.
While specialising in the Music Industry, Steve has also written for non-music magazines and is available for a range of editorial commissions. All requests considered.
Steve Harvey is a respected tutor of electric, acoustic and bass guitar. Specialising in helping beginners, Steve is a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors and many of his students are being taken through the RGT Grades (accredited by the London College of Music). A wide range of styles and techniques are taught giving students a large repertoire of genres, pieces and songs.
Steve has a bespoke teaching room at his house in Taunton, Somerset as well as a facility at Oyster House Studios, 5 minutes from Junction 28 of the M5. Students enjoy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Where required, Steve has a comprehensive selection of equipment available for use by students.
Free taster sessions are offered to give students an idea of the service on offer.
Steve is CRB checked and is employed by Devon County Council as a guitar tutor.
Lessons are charged at £12.50 per 30mins. Where RGT Grades are taken, RGT text books and exam entry costs are additional.
